Ed Sheeran congratulates Loose Women with on-air message for 20th birthday

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran appeared on ‘Loose Women’ to congratulate the team for two decades on air.
The ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker is friends with panelist Brendan Edwards’ son James, and he surprised the daytime TV stars on a special 20th birthday edition of the show as he sent in a video message to offer some kind words.
Appearing in a clip on Friday’s (06.09.19) episode, he said: “Happy 20th birthday to Loose Women, congratulations on everything you guys are achieving. Lots of love to all of you, you’re all fantastic and have a great day – lots of love!”
There was a celebratory mood in the studio as bosses went all out to mark the milestone.
Each segment of the show had a different line-up of four women at the desk, while the rest sat in the studio audience.
For the first time since the show’s debut, four anchors – Andrea McLean, Christine Lampard, Ruth Langsford and Kaye Adams – appeared at the desk together.
Viewers were also treated to a ‘Loose Women’ debut as the returning Stacey Solomon – who hasn’t appeared since giving birth in May – brought her baby boy Rex with her to join in the fun.
She quipped: “It’s all a bit of a blur – I’ve chosen quite a busy day to come in.”
The 29-year-old presenter – who also has sons Zachary, 11, and Leighton, seven, from previous relationships – gave birth to her first child with Joe Swash earlier this year, and she admitted watching the show has helped her after giving birth for a third time.
She explained: “You’ve been doing stuff like breastfeeding, you’ve been tackling subjects that I’ve been going through as I’ve been watching – which has been such a massive help.”
There was even room for a Mr. Blobby appearance as the classic children’s TV character bumbled in and interrupted a quiz pitting McLean’s Machines, Adams’ A-Team and Lampard’s Legends against each other to see who knew the most about the show.
The programme ended on a musical note, as Stacey and Brenda teamed up with Denise Welch and Kelle Bryan for a rendition of Andrew Gold’s hit ‘Thank You For Being A Friend’.
