Sofia Coppola, Thomas Mars marry in Italy
American film director Sofia Coppola married her longtime partner Thomas Mars this evening with a private ceremony in Italy. The Marie Antoinette director wed French singer Mars in the small town of Bernalda in front of 80 people, including Star Wars director George Lucas.
“Everything went well,” town mayor Leonardo Chiruzzi, who performed the ceremony, told The AP. “It was simple, calm, in the garden.”
The couple already have two daughters together, 4-year-old Romy and 1-year-old Cosima.
Coppola was previously married to Being John Malkovich helmer Spike Jonze between 1999 and 2003.
The director is best known for her 2003 film Lost in Translation, which earned Coppola an Academy Award nomination for ‘Best Director’.
