Snoop Dogg to spend 40th birthday with grandma
Snoop Dogg has admitted that he would like to spend his upcoming 40th birthday celebrations visiting his grandma. The hip-hop star, who will headline London’s Lovebox festival on July 16, revealed that he enjoys planning his wife and grandmother’s birthdays more than his own.
“More people worry about my birthday than I do,” Snoop told the Daily Star. “I’m more concerned about my grandmother’s birthday, my wife’s birthday. I’m more about giving.
“I’m not into doing things for myself because a lot of great things have already happened to me. To be alive and spend time with grandma is enough.”
The ‘Sweat’ rapper also revealed that he is thinking about new film projects, including one about music legend George Clinton.
“A George Clinton movie would be awesome. I’d love to play Bootsy [Collins]. I was just saying that the other day, it’s something that needs to be done,” he explained.
Collins features on his latest album release Doggumentary, with Snoop hoping the collaboration will keep funk alive in the modern music chart.
“The funk will never die. As long as Snoop Dogg is here, my seeds have been planted,” he claimed.
“I planted so many seeds in young MCs all around the world. What’s happening right now is the funk is having a reinvention.
“LMFAO, Far East [Movement] both have a lot of funk in their music. People are cooking with their own flavours.”
Snoop Dogg’s new single ‘Boom’ will be released on July 18.
