Imelda Staunton to star in new ITV drama Flesh and Blood

OHMYGOSSIP — Imelda Staunton, Francesca Annis, Claudie Blakley, Russell Tovey, Stephen Rea and Lydia Leonard are to star in new ITV drama ‘Flesh and Blood’.
ITV and Silverprint Pictures have announced that shooting on the upcoming four-part series has begun and have confirmed the cast.
The show has been written by Sarah Williams – whose previous work includes ‘The Long Song’, ‘Case Sensitive’ and ‘Poppy Shakespeare’ – and the plot will centre around the dynamics and relationships within a family which are strained to breaking point.
The story will primarily focus on three adult siblings, Helen (Claudie), Jake (Russell) and Natalie (Lydia), whose lives are thrown into disarray when their recently widowed mother Vivien (Francesca) declares she’s in love with a new man Mark (Stephen).
As Vivien nears her 70th birthday, the siblings begin to question the happiness of her 45-year marriage to their father Terry, and years of secrets, lies, rivalries and betrayals are exposed and threaten to blow apart everything they’ve held dear for so long.
The siblings, threatened by Mark, begin to investigate the life of the GP to try and find out what his true motives for romancing their mother are.
‘Flesh and Blood’ will also star Sharon Small, Lara Rossi, Keir Charles, Vincent Regan, David Bamber, Stephanie Langton and Clara Indrani.
Cold Feet’s Louise Hooper is directing from Sarah’s script and filming will take place on location in London and along the Sussex coast.
