Prince Charles’ praise for Camilla
Britain’s Prince Charles says his wife Camilla is his “eyes and ears”. The heir to the English throne said he would never be able to achieve all the philanthropic work he does – including campaigning on environmental issues – without the input of his second wife Camilla, who he married in 2005.
He told Britain’s OK! Magazine: “Having somebody who obviously supports you and is on your side and understands is hugely valuable, she is my eyes and ears as well.”
The prince also talked about why he pursues his environmental endeavours with so much passion, and where he gets the drive to keep campaigning from.
He added: “The only reason is because I mind. I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t really mind. And I don’t know why I mind so much, but I always have done. So I can only assume it’s something that’s sort of inherent.”
Prince Charles’ charitable work includes being the president of 20 charities, 18 of which he has founded, which are collectively known as The Prince’s Charities, and includes The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment, The Prince’s Regeneration Trust and Highgrove Enterprises. In 2006 The Telegraph newspaper estimated the royal raises around £110 million for charity each year.
