Travis Barker: I haven’t recorded a Blink album in six years

Recording with Blink 182 feels “really exciting and new again” according to drummer Travis Barker. The ‘What’s My Age Again’ rockers went on a hiatus in 2005, but have recently headed back to the studio to work on tracks for their sixth album, and Travis says he feels really comfortable with how they are now working.

He told website Gigwise.com: “It’s going really well. I haven’t recorded a Blink album in six years, which has gone really fast.

“At first it felt like we were getting straight back into it because we just started touring and there weren’t any new songs. Now that there’s new material it all feels really exciting and new again.”

Travis also revealed it was singer Tom DeLonge – who stars in the group alongside him and bass player Mark Hoppus – who reached out to reform the band after the 35-year-old suffered a near fatal plane crash in 2008.

He added: “We were on a hiatus or broke up and then it was Tom who made the first move. When I was recovering in hospital from my crash he wrote a letter and called me and we all started reconnecting after that.

“We kind of saw that we weren’t really fighting and not being in a band for a really good reason and I think everybody just wanted to get back into it again.”
