Comedian Jimmy Kimmel leaves French Polynesia following tsunami scare
Jimmy Kimmel, the American talk show host and comedian, has been evacuated from a small island in French Polynesia following a tsunami scare. The funnyman had been on vacation in the South Pacific when a tsunami warning was issued following the earthquake in Japan, reports Britain’s Press Association.
Jimmy initially made light of the situation on Twitter, writing, “Suddenly, relaxing on an island in the South Pacific isn’t so relaxing anymore. Good thing I brought my aqua stilts.
“I wish I was joking. That’s where I am. I’m on an island in French Polynesia, glued to CNN.”
Asked how scared he was on a scale of one to 10, he replied, “A good solid 7. On a small island, with no high ground.”
His latest tweet read, “We are evacuating the island. dogspeed.”
