Ben Stiller thrilled about Grossman film
Ben Stiller is “honoured” to be making a movie about Les Grossman. Paramount has confirmed Tom Cruise’s foul-mouthed director character from ‘Tropic Thunder’ – who he reprised for a series of sketches at the MTV Movie Awards last weekend – is to receive his own spin-off film following the actor’s recent hints.
Treating the character as a real person whose life story they have bought the rights to, Ben said in a statement for the studio: “Les Grossman’s life story is an inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness against all odds. He has assured me he plans to, quote, ‘F***ing kill the sh**t out of this movie and make Citizen f***ing Kane look like a piece of c**p home movie by the time we are done.’ I am honoured to be working with him.”
Paramount Pictures President Adam Goodman added: “Everything I learned in this business, I’ve learned from Les. I started out as his assistant, and from the first day he threw his desk at me when I got his lunch order wrong, I have loved him like a father. I am forever grateful to Ben and Stuart Cornfeld and their ability to secure his highly-coveted life rights.”
Michael Bacall is to write the film, which will be produced by Ben – who starred in ‘Tropic Thunder’ – and Tom.
