David Bowie's 70th birthday tour

OHMYGOSSIP — David Bowie’s 70th birthday is to be commemorated with a series of concerts.
The ‘Life on Mars’ hitmaker tragically passed away from liver cancer in January this year just two days after his 69th birthday, and now fans of the late music icon will be able to celebrate what would have been the important milestone with a show performed by some of Bowie’s previous collaborators.
The performances will make up a mini-tour named ‘Celebrating David Bowie’, and will kick off at London’s O2 Brixton Academy on January 8 – the day of the ‘Space Oddity’ singer’s birthday – before travelling to New York, Los Angeles, and Sydney, and wrapping up in Tokyo’s Dome City Hall on February 2.
Former Bowie collaborators Mike Garson, Adrian Belew, Earl Slick, Angelo Moore, Gaby Moreno, Bernard Fowler, and Joe Sumner are among just some of the musicians who will come together for the shows.
The dates also aim to “aid local charities” through ticket sales, and the venues have been selected from cities that have “a strong connection” to the ‘Under Pressure’ musician.
An event description on the website for New York venue Terminal 5 reads: “To honor David Bowie’s 70th birthday, Bowie band members, friends, and a massive ensemble of top recording & touring musicians from around the world are getting together for a one-time only series of global goodwill concerts, in aid of local charities, called ‘Celebrating David Bowie’.
“The concerts all take place in cities that have a strong connection with David Bowie and his work – London, New York City, Los Angeles, Sydney, & Tokyo. All feature a core two dozen musicians traveling plus many local, regional, and national musicians to create a sound like no other. (sic)”
The ‘Celebrating David Bowie’ tour dates:
Jan 08 – London, England – O2 Brixton Academy
Jan 10 – New York City, NY – Terminal 5
Jan 25 – Los Angeles, CA – The Wiltern
Jan 29 – Sydney, Australia – Sydney Opera House
Feb 02 – Tokyo, Japan – Dome City Hall
