Cherie Lunghi has reportedly revealed that the BBC is axing Casualty 1909.
The actress blamed the decision on the corporation’s apparent preference for reality TV over period drama. Lunghi told The Sunday Telegraph: “The BBC have suddenly decided that period drama isn´t their thing. It was doing very well, but they’ve decided not to do any more.”
Lunghi said that reality TV is favoured due to financial restrictions. “There is not much money around & drama is expensive and reality TV is cheaper,” she said.
