From TV Personality to Caregiver: Jorma Pulkkinen’s search for a new home after giving up their Spanish retreat

OHMYGOSSIP – Jorma Pulkkinen is a well-known TV personality, host and motorsport enthusiast, who has been a household name in Finland since the 1980s. At the age of 83, Jorma has been caring for his wife Anna-Liisa, 82, for the past three years as her full-time caregiver. The couple has been married for 62 years and are currently on the search for a new home that can better accommodate their current needs.

Jorma Pulkkinen, the beloved TV personality and motorsport enthusiast, has been caring for his wife Anna-Liisa for the past three years as her full-time caregiver. The couple, who have been married for 62 years, currently live in a second-floor apartment in Kaivoksela, but the challenges of living and moving around in a multi-story building have become too difficult to manage.

As a result, Jorma is actively searching for a small single-family home within a 50-kilometer radius of Kaivoksela. He is using word of mouth and social media to search for potential homes and is open to receiving inquiries.

“Anna-Liisa has been suffering from memory loss for the past three years. She struggles to remember things like time, names, money, and other everyday tasks,” Jorma explains to Iltalehti. “But the biggest challenge is her dizziness. I am her full-time caregiver, working 24 hours a day. A small single-family home in a location that’s easy to move around in would be ideal. It would make it easier for us to go outside and move around without the need to navigate stairs and multiple doors.”

Despite the challenges, Jorma expresses his gratitude and happiness for their shared journey together. He also mentions that due to his wife’s health condition, they had to give up their beloved Spanish home, where they had spent 36 years of their lives and served as a sanctuary during the dark Finnish winters.

“We had been spending our winters in Spain for 36 years and it was a difficult decision to give it up, but we had grown tired of it and it was time for a change,” Jorma reflects. “Although I do miss it sometimes, I am happy to be able to take care of my wife and make sure she is comfortable.”

Jorma’s career as a TV host and presenter began in the 1980s and he quickly became a household name in Finland. He hosted the popular shows Ruutuysi and Ruutuässä on Kolmoskanava and MTV3, and was also known for hosting the Kultainen harmonikka competition in the 1980s and 1990s.
