Isla Fisher and Carey Mulligan wanted to steal costumes
OHMYGOSSIP — Isla Fisher and Carey Mulligan unsuccessfully plotted to steal their ‘Great Gatsby’ costumes.
Isla Fisher tried to steal ‘The Great Gatsby’ costumes. The 37-year-old actress and her co-star Carey Mulligan were so obsessed with the 1920s vintage dresses they sported for Baz Luhrmann‘s new film that they attempted to smuggle them off the set.
She explained: “It’s weird, normally on set you find yourself holed up in your trailer. Waiting for call time, but those guys were just so disarmingly lovely. And I think we were all so enamoured with the costumes and sets that we waned to hang around even when we weren’t shooting.
“Carey and I were plotting how to steal our costumes and sneak them off set. Sadly, that didn’t work out too well. But they were all great.”
Isla was shocked to be offered a part in her favourite director’s new project and revealed his big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel lived up to her high expectations.
She enthused to Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “I remember seeing ‘Romeo and Juliet’ when I was 16 and thinking that if I could work with Baz, it would be ideal. It really was a dream come true and you could hardly wipe the smile from my face for the entire time on set.
“To be in Baz’s world was a pure privilege … Baz recreated 1920s Long Island in Sydney. It was surreal and also exactly how I imagined it from the book. And I love all of Baz’s films, so it was fun.”
