Helena-Reet: Hollywood has always had a love-hate relationship with the press

OHMYGOSSIP — The A-list entertainment journalist and Ohmygossip Couture brand developer Helena-Reet Ennet tells that Hollywood has always had a love-hate relationship with the press. “The power structures of Hollywood and celebrities have always had a love-hate relationship with the press: can’t live with it, can’t live without it but without limelight in every kind of media as TV, radio, newspapers and magazines they do not exist,” she said.

“Despite the complaints, each morning Hollywood awakes to another day of news: The city runs on speculation, gossip, and last but not least hard facts. Residents across the region scan the day’s headlines before leaving their homes, then turn on the radio until they reach the office, where TVs on desks provide running commentary on unfolding events. Throughout the day, BlackBerries hum with breaking-news alerts.”

“Hollywood teems with thousands of journalists and reporters, probably more than any other city in the world. Technology is changing where we get our news. But great journalists still make a difference. It is important to be the best, not just pretty good. Journalists choose which news you read every day and this is a big responsibility and also a big opportunity to guide people,” Helena-Reet added.

“Nowadays, many journalists work for more than one medium. A reporter might first post a short summary for the website, then go on TV at midday & make a report in front of the camera, and finally, write a full text story for the print newspaper before going home. Most of A-list journalists are photographers as well – they take pictures, gather audio and edit it, and later build a slideshow for the web. You must be one step ahead, multifunctional, effective, useful and you definitely should know all facets in your field.”

“It´s a super great job. How many jobs can keep you constantly challenged to learn new things, to provide valuable information to other people, to use your curiosity about the world and explore? Not many!” Helena-Reet explained and added: “I have the best job ever!”

“I love what I´m doing, I do it with passion, I study & practice every single day to be the best, to stay on the top and to be continously successful and satisfied with my job.”

She also wants to say to young columnists and journalists not to be shy to present themselves. “If you are talented and have passion, show yourself! Ask for internship or ask to join the company you like. Without it you never have a chance. You may get a “no” from many places but there is always the possibility to get  a “yes” as well.

Meanwhile, the socialite said that both her children know what she is doing. “I think it is a very important message to our kids that both myself and Margus love to work hard,” Helena-Reet said to Ohmygossip.com. “Both children already know what we do.”
