Pete Wicks opens up about death of dog

OHMYGOSSIP — Pete Wicks says his dog Ernest dying was the first time he’s ever felt like he’s “lost” anything.
The ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star’s beloved French Bulldog – who he got from a breeder – sadly died in 2016, and the reality star has admitted that not has comes close to how he felt when his canine friend passed away.
The hunk – who broke up with his girlfriend Megan McKenna last October and is now dating Shelby Tribble – told the Daily Star: “I’m not really one for talking about things that affect me too much.
“I know people will say, ‘It’s just a dog’, but he wasn’t just a dog for me.
“It was the first time I’ve really had the responsibility of anything else’s life in my hands and he taught me an awful lot about myself and changed me as a person.
“So it’s the first time I’ve really lost anything that meant an awful lot to me.”
Ernest died after suffering with a heart murmur and the organ gave up.
Pete – who is the author of the book ‘For The Love of Frenchies’ – said previously: “Ernest was from a breeder and I ended up paying a lot of money for Ernest because he just looked amazing and that’s what people do. He ended up having a heart murmur and then a heart attack. I thought they were quite good breeders, I went and saw the mum and the dad, but I think a lot of people don’t look into the breeders properly.”
Although French Bulldogs are known for having breathing problems due to their flat noses, the 29-year-old hunk’s other dog Eric is “good as gold” – but he does try to limit how excited he gets because he doesn’t want him to pant too much.
He explained: “Eric is a puppy that was smuggled in from Eastern Europe and, touch wood, he’s good as gold … I’ve done quite a lot of work with different charities … there are so many dogs that need homes and I think a lot of people just go out and get these dogs from top-class breeders rather than worrying about giving a dog a proper home.”
