Robot Wars has been axed again

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Robot Wars’ has been axed by the BBC just three series after it was rebooted.
The popular game show where teams of competitors build and battle their robotic creations against one another has officially been removed from the BBC’s 2018 line-up in order to “make room for new shows”.
‘Robot Wars’ originally ran from 1998 to 2004 where it was hosted for one year by Jeremy Clarkson and then by Craig Charles alongside Phillipa Forrester, and was rebooted just two years ago with Dara O’Briain and Angela Scanlon taking over hosting duties.
A spokesperson said: “We are very proud of ‘Robot Wars’ and would like to thank Mentorn Media, the presenters Dara O’Briain and Angela Scanlon, and all those involved in the last three series. However, in order to create room for new shows it won’t be returning to BBC Two.”
The news was confirmed by some of the team members who built the robots for the show, with the team behind fan-favourite house robot Sir Killalot – a knight-inspired robot with pincers and drills for hands – taking to Twitter to apologise to their fans.
They wrote: “It was fun, but I guess some things are not meant to be. We’re sorry, to all our loyal fans.”
Whilst one of the teams who competed on the show, Team Carbide, expressed their “great sadness” at the news, but said they would continue competing with their machine overseas.
They told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It’s with great sadness we have to inform everyone that not only has Carbide retired, but so has Robot Wars. It’s been an amazing three years and we look forward to competing overseas. Hopefully in our short 15 minutes of fame we have inspired a new generation of builders.”
