Man loses his store after spending $1.000.000 on lottery tickets

OHMYGOSSIP – The line between a lottery aficionado and a gambling addict is very thin sometimes and Adam Osmond crossed it when he spent a seven-digit sum in his pursuit of seemingly easy fortune. This Connecticut resident was forced to close his shop after squandering $1.000.000 on lottery tickets, without winning anything significant in the process.

Mr. Osmond purchased his first lottery ticket all the way back in 1986, but his gambling addiction developed years later. In the beginning, he was spending just a few dollars a week, but as the income in his store increased he started wasting more money on gambling.

“At the end I was buying thousands of dollars of lottery tickets each week. Whenever I won I would put everything back into the lottery, plus all my income from my business and my full time job,” recalled the 49-year-old man, who once printed out 54.000 tickets without cashing any of them.

The largest prize he ever won was worth $50.000, but winning it didn’t stop him from wanting more. After he collected it, Osmond spent all of it on lottery tickets in the very first week.

“As a gambler, the worst thing that could happen to you is to win big because if you win big it’s downhill from there. Because for a compulsive gambler it’s not about the win, it’s about the next hit,” explained the man.

Mr. Osmond was forced to shut down his business when lottery officials realized he was unable to pay for the thousands of tickets he purchased. Several years went by since then and he did his best to recover from his addiction – he became an avid runner and he’s now in the process of getting his running coaching certification.

You don’t have to spend millions on lottery ticket, couple of bucks could be enough – play Powerball to snatch $244.000.000!
