Singer Jolene Crosby to Ohmygossip.com: What I’m doing already is more than I could have ever dreamed of

OHMYGOSSIP — “Right now I’m living my dream, since as far back I can remember, its all I’ve ever wanted to do, knowing people think I’m good enough to even consider asking you to feature on their work is a huge honor,” Jolene Crosby tells Ohmygossip.com.

Jolene Crosby, please, tell us about yourself?
My name is Jolene. I’m a singer, songwriter. Bradford. Under the management of Jay Enna at OneFold Records. I’ve been officially releasing music for the past 2 years, my recent track with Sweet LA and Michael Murica ‘wrong’ released on OneFold Records has been my most successful release to date, seeing the original and remixes by Rich Pinder and Electrik cat all entering the top 20 house, tech house and over singles top 100 on the first week of it exclusive release on digital download store Traxsource (LINK).

What would you like to be doing five years from now? What are your long-term goals – how are you preparing yourself to achieve them?
In 5 years time. I would like to see myself, performing to bigger audiences, venues, more chart success with future track releases, to be hearing my music played on national radio. I’ve recently attracted more attention from some bigger named producers and hopefully will be working on something with them in the future.

What are the most important rewards you expect in your career? What motivates you?
Right now I’m living my dream, since as far back I can remember, its all I’ve ever wanted to do, knowing people think I’m good enough to even consider asking you to feature on their work is a huge honor. Hearing a finished track you feature on is an amazing feeling and the thought of people dancing, singing along and knowing the words to a song u wrote is an unbelievable feeling too. People know who I am in countries and places I have never been too, is crazy. What I’m doing already is more than I could have ever dreamed of, and knowing now that maybe things are more achievable than you thought, it makes you believe in yourself even more and that’s what drives me to push this dream even more.

Who is your role model and why?
My nan.  She’s a strong woman who has always taught me that in order to have the things you want, you have to work hard for them. She’s the first person I ring when I’m in need of anything, she’s the one that has always been there for me, especially through this musical dream, she’s the one who has been there from the start. She has even come to events I have performed at, helped me buy my equipment in order for me to pursue my dream, but I think she sees what it does actually mean to me to do this and sees that I work hard to try and achieve it .

Also my manager is amazing, I can ask him anything and I can tell him everything, he’s helped me realize just how good I am, gives me advice when I need it, his drive and passion for music is also inspirational too.

What was the best advice you’ve been given?
Believe in yourself…

What do you do in your spare time?
When I am not working on new songs, I do like to spend time with my family and friends, coz they’re a huge part of me and my life, but I do sometimes like my own space too at times.

What makes you happy? What is your secret of happiness?
Seeing my family happy that makes me happy, and achieving the little goals you set yourself that makes me really happy.

What is your favourite quote/motto?
When one door closes another door opens.

Let’s talk about music, too. What genre of music do you do? How would you describe your style? Who are your major influences?
The music I do is house music, but I’ve not really stayed between a certain genre of house music thou. Me as singer I would describe myself as maybe a kind of soulful diva (lol). I’ve always been a huge fan of 90’s divas like Whitney (Houston). She has played a huge part over the years in what kind of artist I always wanted to be and also 90’s house divas like Rachael McFarlane, I think her vocal talent is unreal.

As a songwriter I tend to write in a kind of meaningful way, I like to tell a story in which people can relate to.. I love people like Ed Sheeran and Amy Whinehouse, I love the way they write(wrote) songs.

Which famous musicians do you admire? Groups? CD’s? Why?
Whitney Houston (Her vocal talent). Ed Sheeran, (Multiply album). Amazing you could relate to every song on the album. Amy Whinehouse, (Back to Black). She told her story, through her music.

Do you have a record label(s)? Are you a member of any music organizations?
OneFold Records.

How can fans gain access to your music? Do you have a website with sample songs or a demo CD?
My social links: Facebook (LINK), Twitter (LINK), Traxsource (LINK).
