Laura Carmichael cast in Madame Bovary

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Downton Abbey’ star Laura Carmichael has been cast in the new adaptation of Gustave Flaubert’s 1856 novel ‘Madame Bovary’, where she will star alongside Logan Marshall-Green and Olivier Gourmet.

The 26-year-old actress – best known for her role as Lady Edith Crawley in hit period drama ‘Downton Abbey’ – is set to take on the role of Henrietta in the new take on Gustave Flaubert’s 1856 novel.

According to Variety, Logan Marshall-Green has also been cast as Marquis and Olivier Gourmet will play Monsieur Roualt.

Laura also joins Oscar-winning actor Paul Giamatti, who appears alongside her in the new season of ‘Downton Abbey’, playing the “maverick playboy” brother of Lady Grantham.

The star-studded cast also includes Mia Wasikowska, Ezra Miller, Rhys Ifans and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.

Mia plays the leading lady Emma Bovary, a doctor’s wife who tries to escape the reality of her boring marriage by pursuing extramarital affairs but unfortunately her attempts turn out to be disastrous.

The film will be directed by Sophie Barthes and it is set to begin filming in Normandy, France, on October 9.
